OPTIMIZED PIN INTERFACE
Each piston is precision-bored to match the corresponding floating or press-fit pin. Custom-chamfered pins and high-strength round-wire retainers are used in floating-pin applications to eliminate stress risers and spread side loads across entire pin boss area.
POWERFORGING process creates optimal material grain flow and microstructure for maximum strength. The forged material’s added ductility enables the piston to “bend” rather than break under extreme conditions.
Exclusive POWERFORGED alloy features 12 percent silicon, which dramatically reduces thermal expansion, enables engine builders to use tighter bore clearances and minimizes ring-groove and skirt wear.
